Youth Ministry at New Guilford Church
Vision & Purpose
We exist to help students grow in their relationship with God by helping them to better understand their faith by allowing them to make it their own while also teaching them how to live out their faith everyday!
Our Facilities The Youth meet at the Blue House located at the back of the church parking lot. The church graciously gave the youth the whole house to use for weekly meetings and special events so that we have a space to call our own. All of the painting and design was done by students and leaders. We have space for musical equipment for Escape meetings, an area with couches, a ping-pong table, and a TV for hanging out in, a Jr. High classroom, a music room, and a resource room!
We meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Blue House. Escape is a chance for students to grow deeper in their walk with God through worship, fellowship with each other, and a challenging lesson to help them see what it looks like to live out their faith every day.
We meet for Sunday School every Sunday morning from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Blue House. There is a class for Junior High and Senior High youth. Students have a chance to take an in-depth look at the Bible together and learn how to apply it to their lives.
We do a number of events to supplement our weekly activities. These events are designed for inviting and meeting new people. Special events in the past have included a barn blast, youth group Olympics, Jr. High fun night, Orioles game, sports emporium, and bonfires.
One Sunday a year, the youth are in charge of an entire worship service. This is a great chance for students to share what they have been learning over the year with the congregation!
Every year students have the opportunity to go on either a local, national, or international mission’s trip. These trips are designed to stretch students while providing them the opportunity to connect and work with local people and to share the good news of Jesus with others! Some places students have gone in the past are: Nicaragua; the Bronx, NY; Newark, NY; Michigan; Peru; and serving right here at home in Chambersburg.
Alive for Jr. High youth and Impact for Sr. High youth are weekend retreats in Ocean City, MD. This is a time for students to ‘get away’ and focus on their relationship with God with thousands of teens their age!
